Dunas Terras da Comporta Golf Course
Dunas Terras da Comporta was designed by Scottish architect David McLay Kidd, the man behind Bandon Dunes, and marks his first course in mainland Europe. It opened in 2023 within the Terras da Comporta estate on the edge of the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve, an hour south of Lisbon, laid across 84 hectares of natural sandy dune land.
The par-71 links routes fescue fairways through the dune contours rather than over them, with wasteland-style bunkering and native vegetation standing in for trees. Greens run large, fast and genuinely undulating, and six sets of tees on every hole mean the course flexes from a relaxed round to a serious test. Since opening, it has been named World's Best Golf Course at the 2024 World Golf Awards and Europe's Best Golf Course in 2025, and currently ranks inside Continental Europe's Top 10 and number one in Portugal.
Facilities include a driving range, golf academy, clubhouse restaurant and pro shop, with a buggy included in every green fee. Pair it with sister course Torre Terras da Comporta for arguably the strongest two-round stop in the country, and book both through Tee Times.

Great experience - warm greeting on arrival both at car park buggy allocation to pro shop - great warm up facilities, v good course design and conditions superb for the time of year. Have played 3 times at this course and the standards are top notch.

What a wonderful experience, which lived up to our highest of expectations. This was the first time we have played at Dunas, but it will not be our last. The course was beautifully presented and is a seriously good and enjoyable test of golf. Greens were slick and true.
The whole experience from the moment we arrived until we left was outstanding. The welcome was superb and nothing was too much trouble. Everything was beautifully presented, the burger at lunch was excellent and the general customer service was impeccable. All the staff/team had smiles on their respective faces. Practice facilities were to a high standard.

The course experience from when you arrive greeting is exceptional. The practice range is very nice . The staff all over are super friendly . We had played the course last year around the same time and think it was in better shape . But still very nice 8/10 . The layout is very interesting.
