Oitavos Golfe lies within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. It is set among pine woods and reforested dunes, in an area of great natural beauty. Being a seaside golf course, the ocean view is present all the time, although some of the more fantastic scenery come from the Sintra mountains and Cabo da Roca the Europe's most western point in Europe.|Hills has maintained and preserved the unique caracteristics of the land. The environmental certification was done in cooperation with Audubon International, an American environamental association.|The sustainability of the resources is the prior objective, and because of that the flora and fauna peculiar to the region are strictly protected, being some areas closed to people and machines.|Quinta da Marinha Oitavos Golfe is the 1st Golf Course in Europe and the 2nd in the Word being recognised as a Certified Signature Sanctuary - Gold. It is already set as one of the best golf courses in Europe, where a non stress round of golf can be played all year round.
Gold course was good. We did not utilise the bar or restaurant but facilities were good
Really good course, tight front nine, then opens up a little back nine. Condition in May 22 was excellent and the fastest greens we played.
Another day, another round of golf. First time here, and truly impressive, not sure I like Ronaldo's new house being built in front of the clubhouse, if you can call it a house, more like a hotel???? I play of nine and started the course off the whites, but after coming up short(ISH) on a few par fours, I went to the yellow's, a much better experience. You must stay on the fairways as the rough is pretty tricky to get out of, a mix of sand and shrubs. The fairways were in pretty good condition, and the greens were (good) tough, and quite slick. There are some truly memorable holes with views, and I would recommend it if you are in the area
Played a 2 ball at 09.00 and made it round in under 4 hours with other golfers in front. Staff were really helpful in re booking us for the early tee time, and resulted in a great day.
Course in great condition with fast true greens with helpful staff. We played a 2 ball, but got held up by an unofficial competition of 4 balls with the round taking 5 hours.
Tough course off the back tees plus wind can pay havoc. Nice course but a bit scruffy in places due to building work going on.
Joeri Van Bogaert
Excellent links golf course with great ocean views. The course design is unique and we will come back to play this course.

I went very excited, to be playing 2nd(?) best course in Portugal and 56th(?) in the world, and left disappointed because it wasn't in all aspects. On the positive side was the condition - this is winter, it had rained, and the fairways were magnificent, the greens great and really slick if you were down grain! The view is great. The wind was up which I really enjoy (driver, 4 wood and 4 iron to par five, a couple of 350 yard drives in the other direction!), the course was tight in places. I got a great deal from teetimes who fitted me in despite course being fairly busy. The bunkers were works of art and fantastically maintained. It's easy to walk round. The negative - a number of the holes around the centre of the course run side by side, albeit not consecutively, but it's difficult to avoid other fairways on certain holes! You could throw a blanket over about 8 holes here, pretty much, and I got the feeling a couple of the holes were shoe horned in. Some of the run off areas were fairly scruffy but it's winter. I tried to play a little like a links course but it isn't a links so the ball held up but catch some slopes and the ball disappears off the other side! In summary world class fairways and greens but not layout.
What a lovely golf course would definitely come back and play again.
Lovely place for golf, excellent shop and restaurant.

Beautiful course Nice fairways Top views Negatif: Bar was closed
Damien De Smet
Très beau parcours. Avec des fairways et rough très bien entretenus. Le prix du buggy est sur fait.
Very nice course. Perfect. Only a pity that restaurant/bar was closed due to private party. They did not tell upfront. And the 19th hole was our final destination for the long weekend with our own ceremony awards etc. We had to move this to our accomodation. So course a 8.
Course is very nice. Staff not as pleasant and helpful as others we experienced for years in Portugal.
Golf Buggys are too expensive. Course is affected by high winds
Nice course. Plenty of room on some holes for "wide drives". Wind can make the game interesting. Quality of greens varied a bit, maybe due to the early season. Definitely will go again. Beautiful views.
Lovely course, condition of fairways greens and tees excellent, you can putt from the fairways, like carpets. Lovely views
Paul Henri Remarque
Very nice course in perfect condition! People are very kind. The bar is a little expensive though. Was a great day
Lovely course and great facilities.
A must play. Extraordinary course outlay with plenty of challenges. Fairways and greens are in excellent condition and the ball runs true on the putting surface. Plenty of fluffy sand traps (dunes) strategically situated. Will play it again
We played 5 courses in the Cascais region and this was planned to be our signature course. It was more than double the price of others we played but unfortunately it was a massive let down. Whoever rated this course as being one of the top courses in Portugal was way off the mark. The condition was moderate at best, the cart paths were very poor and the layout was terrible - several holes together in a big open field. Save your money and play Belas, Estoril or Penha Longa Championship course - it will cost you half the money and you will have a much more pleasuresble pleasurable experience.
In my opinion a very average course ,and certainly far from the best in Portugal. Unbelievably the bar and restaurant was closed when we finished our round at 5.30! Certainly not value for money.
I just finished my round in Oitavos Dunes and it was quite an enjoyable experience. Nice design and friendly staff. However, there was a lot of GUR/areas that were out of play due to maintenance. There were more than 6 tee boxes where there were no tees laid out. Usually when there is this level of work on a course, the staff will inform you in advance and there will be a reduced green fee. This was not the case today which was a surprising and disappointing.
Greens slow, maintenance average, driving range poor, why charge for driving range? Should be prepared and inclusive at these rates
Golf course is nice and well laid out. Some of the holes are very interesting as well as challenging. The course is also reasonably in good repair. But very poor signage around the golf course. At places we were struggling to find the next tee.
Lovely course. Shame it was foggy so we couldn't see the views but we enjoyed the day.
Dirk van West
Very nice course and very friendly staff. Played the course with very heavy wind so lost a couple of balls..
Sonsoles Fernandez Ludena
Not good, the golf course Oitavos was under maintenance, greens in bad conditions and no body informed about that. I would have gone to another golf course if I knew that!!
Nice golf course with good maintenance Small disappointment as no water is provided at the start nor on the course tees For a quite hot country it should be better
Fantastique parcours avec des points de vue magnifiques sur l’océan. En revanche il faudrait indiquer lors de la réservation que les Greens sont carottés !!!! Cela enlève beaucoup de plaisir et rends le Green Fee très cher
Unfortunately quite some course maintenance works going on at the moment which does not justify a greenfee of Euro 95 - this on top of sanded greens - all in all course layout challenging and still a gem / why are there cigarette stubs all over the place - I have no problems with people smoking but please discard your stubs in the trash container.
80% of the greens coverd in sand. Not ok for full green fee. The Course is great. Shame with the sand on so many greens
Sylvia M. Schena
Due to maintenance the course was in very bad condition. Several greens completely sandy, blocked by greenkeepers and their carts/lorries. They didn't move or stopped working at all. We had to play over the carts and around the greenkeepers. One green didn't even have a flag at all. The signs are miserable or not existing at all, the toilets couldn't be found either (3 toilets?? But problably blocked by the maintenance cars). No water to clean the balls. No reduction for the green fee, but 58euros for a buggy, no bottle of water included. We definitely will not come back!!
One issue on a lovely golf course - the cost of a buggy at €58 is excessive and a rip off
Wonderful golf with gorgeous views on the Ocean. Challenging but really interesting!
This course is a little dull, definitely not worth the extortionate green fees.
chang chin ching
tough course and very unforgettable playing experience
Wheather was awful but everything else perfect!
Top Place, really on of the top 100
Cas mpo en excelentes condiciones. Pero no justifica el precio excesivo por el mismo. Como la casa Club que es un bar con baños.. no está a la altura del precio que piden por jugar
Friendly and polite personnell. The course is fine, interesting and challenging. Driving range not so good, tokens cost toi much!
Everything was fine, I just expected little more ''wow'' after reading reviews
I spent a great afternoon at this course. The personnel is very polite. I finished early and they let me wait at the bar even though the office was closed already. I even got a coke zero for free. The faciltity is great as are the people!
Very nice golfcourse with fast Greens
The club was very quiet, facilities are very basic for the price. We had to purchase a course guide in addition. For the cost there was too much sand on the greens
Jaap van Oeveren
Nice course! The greens are great to. Nice views over the ocean. With a little seawind this becomes a difficult golfcourse.
Spectacular course. Very windy. Greens and fairways nothing special in comparison to other courses. Good experience though.
Very good course. Nice greetings by the staff. All-in-all a very good experience.
Very nice course with interesting holes. Tricky greens. Service of the staff is very good, but trolleys are in bad condition.
Helena Stucky de Quay
Thank you for the quick and kind assistance . We played this course with great pleasure , the course is well maintained , the speed f play was perfect and the par 5 holes a great challenge , the entire golfing holiday was a success to be repeated .. We shall contact you for further assistance .. Kind regards Jonathan Beard
great condition, couldn't fault the course at all pleasure to play & would definitely return
Perfect golf expérience
little disappointed with course. not a true link links. better courses in area, troia, prai del rey
Beautiful course. Loved playing it. Service was good. But when I arrived, I was told there were many golfers and no buggies were available. The gentleman I was playing with and I are both in our 60's, and had to walk the course. When we were done, there were golf carts sitting unused. Very frustrating. I would not have played the course if I knew I had to walk.
Great course. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed
Very nice course. Greens a little bit slow. Very windy. Compared to Praia del rei and West cliffs to expensive fors the moment.
Good course. Friendly staff. Good service. No downside
This received the most applause in part because the winds all week were very strong and we did not think were would be able to play! However the course this time was sheltered so we had a great last game. Greens were medium fast and true. Fairways like walking on a mattress, very easy on the knees. Club house looked and felt very empty - literally only a couple of staff manning the club so not very inviting to stay after the round. So we didn't! Second time I have played and enjoyed the experience but still struggle to understand some of the planning permissions given for properties on the course which do not seem in keeping!
A slightly better welcome then the rest and course was good if not a bit too difficult given the windy cconditions
Nice links course and excellent training areas. Poor service. Cart price inadequately high.
Great course in great condition. Buggy cost very high at 58 Euros
Course layout and maintenance are OK. Signage for toilet is particularly bad. Information on course layout lacking.
Beautiful course Negative points to report: exorbitant price (7euros) for manual trolleys in very bad condition. Électricité Cart 52 euros!
Very nice golf course, unfortunatelly very, very windy, so on some holes it was very difficult to hit fairway pro greens. Fairways in very good conditions, greens too.
Excellent golf course, well maintained fairways, greens that run true and fast and some spectacular views.
Réception correct. Excellent course which worth the trip.
Katie. It was Perfect. And that Young have read with the sun. I trank you very very much. Greetings Wolfgang
Very well presented course with great facilities.
Pleasant course, excellent service
Pleasant welcome from staff. A little expensive.
Terrific golf course, helpful staff who moved our tee forward to earlier that morning so that we could play as a 2 ball and not be held up several groups of 3 and 4 balls due to play before us.
Diarmuid O Neill
Fantastic golf course very difficult but fair. Buggies €70 and no food available after round 6:30 pm.
Sten Clemen Andersen
Super course, but too expensive
The course was harder than the slope/rating. The value isn't there.
What a wonderful golf course!! It is great shape.
Great course and great facilities
Highly rated links style course, some great views of the Atlantic.
Excellent course with good customer service. Only one small complaint would be the high cost of drinks in the bar/restaurant
Mark Richard Thomson
Very welcoming club, and again a great golf course with fantastic facilities. I felt they went a little further to make you welcome by providing a complimentary golf shoe bag. These little things make a difference, and again the course was in great condition, and in a great location on the coast.
Excellent course. Friendly reception. Small minus: long waiting time for food & drink service on the terrase after the round.
We rented trollies and they was very poor, the course was good
Great Links course, condition was great ealy in the year. Perfect greens. Only downside was the clubhouse, couldn't even get a drink after our golf.
Shame the bar and restaurant were closed (not open till February)
golf course was outstanding and very difficult. Kitchen service very slow and wait staff were not alert to slow kitchen and were slow delivering drinks but staff was polite. Eventually, entire meal and drinks were provided at no charge due to these issues.
*Undulated - Quick greens and surprising slopes
*Mix - Some parts of the course have the links feeling
