Praia D’El Rey is arguably the most stunning golf course in Europe. It’s set among extensive pine forests and undulating dunes, with spectacular views over the Atlantic and the Berlenga Islands beyond. Deep bunkers, sloping greens and sandy dunes contrast sharply with the lush fairways making it the complete golfing challenge. Praia D'El Rey is rated amongst the top golf courses in Europe by Golf World magazine and is one of the major golfing destinations for both private and sponsored events.|Praia D’El Rey is a mixture of seaside links and parkland holes with a par of 72, offering the golfer a unique experience during their round. Players are required to have a valid golf handicap certificate. Minimum handicap requirements are: men 28, ladies 36.

Impossible to play all the courses, only 9 holes, to slow players !!!

Fairways a bit patchy but otherwise in good condition.
Pace of play on Front 9 was incredibly slow (~2h45). It seems they had people start on 10 earlier and didn‘t manage the gap properly (i.e. no marshall on course)
Back 9 pace was ok because a couple of fights in front of us finished their round on 9.

Teetime was changed to 20 minutes later without any notice. We were on time at TEE nr 1 , 5 min after our teetime caddymaster told us that we needed to start at hole 10, no one told us that. We reserved 3 buggies, we had to wait to pick them up 10 min before departure. Then the caddymaster told us to get keys at reception. Not the relaxed manner to start your 18 holes. Terrible . Course it self was as usual very good.

Course was very busy. Golf reception and buggies gave good service, the starter didn’t!! The course itself looked a little scruffy and short of maintenance. The whole experience was average and did not compare well with West Cliffs. See next review……

We were paired up with a couple who were only playing 9 holes. Then ended up behind a four ball who would not let us through. 4.5 hour round was too long

We had two sets of very slow four balls in front of us, and no marshals in sight to hurry them up (they spent ages looking for balls they should have stopped looking for after a minute or so). At one point we had four sets of players on one hole! It meant a very slow 18 holes for me and my playing partner, and it was difficult to get into a rhythm, constantly waiting for people to make headway in front of us. We had a buggy and the particularly slow four ball directly in front of us did not, which didn't help. However, on a positive note, the course is fantastic with stunning scenery and the food/drinks before and after was good! Thoroughly enjoyed playing, despite having to wait frequently.

Course was in poorer condition than last year with the greens all subject to heavy use of sand although I do appreciate that due to COVID reducing the player count last year it is more than likely that much use which has ensued this year has led to much wear and tear
