West Cliffs opened in June 2017, designed by Cynthia Dye McGarey, niece of the legendary Pete Dye, as the sister course to neighbouring Praia D'El Rey on Portugal's Silver Coast. Laid out across 200 hectares of dune land an hour north of Lisbon, it was named World's Best New Course the year it opened, and the reputation has held.
The Atlantic is visible from every hole, alongside views of the Berlengas Islands and Óbidos Lagoon. The terrain is genuinely hilly, so a buggy is more sensible than optional. Highlights include a Redan-style par-3 5th and a blind, cross-hazard par-5 7th that demands a bold second shot over hidden trouble, building to a strong closing par-4 18th. Even the tee markers are distinctive here: five numbered options, from 47 up to 63, rather than the usual colours.
Facilities include a driving range, resident professionals, a glass-walled clubhouse restaurant with ocean views, and a locker room. Guest feedback consistently ranks this among the best courses on the Silver Coast. Pair it with Praia D'El Rey next door for one of Portugal's strongest two-course stops, and book both through Tee Times.

Great course, stunning views (mainly holes 10-18) and you really have to think about each shot and not just hit n hope

Experience on driving range was better than last time.
Teeboxes and fairway have been in good shape. The greens have been sanded recently (today or yesterday?). So the greens played very slow and inconsistent.
Staff in restaurant is very quick and responsive - far better than in Praia del Rey.

Un campo muy bonito pero puede ser desesperante si no vas recto.

Great course in great shape. 9 out of 10 for the course.
However, this does not apply to the driving range. There is more sand than grass on the tee boxes of the driving range and the range balls are extremely old. 5 points for the driving range.

This is a top course in excellent condition with super friendly staff and a warm atmosphere. I'd highly recommend but take plenty of balls with you!

As tough as ever. Course in great condition. Off course, the clubhouse lunch and service were superb. A great customer service driven team. Only one thought, which I have raised before - there is far too much sand in certain bunkers.

A cracker of a course with outstanding ocean views on each hole. Very helpful lady on the golf desk and playing off the tenth we had the first 9 to ourselves. Tee to fairway on some holes is daunting and if you are not a long hitter take a forward tee to make it more fun. Suggest a buggy here as hilly in places and green to tee can be quite a distance at times. A must play in the area.

Buggy was waiting for us when we arrived. Played with 2 members which was helpful as not played the course before. Amazing course, shame they had recently sanded the greens which negatively affected them but appreciate it has to be done at some stage. Amazing scenery. My playing partner and I agreed it was the best course we’ve played all week. Club house was also lovely with great views.
